To provide an organic composite insulator having a superior boundary face insulation characteristic in a short time relying on no large-size manufacturing facility by simultaneously cross-linking injecting respective rubber-made annular body portions and ribbed covering body portions in manufacturing the composite insulator which has a large number of ribbed covering body portions made of rubber on an FRP core body.
Upper portion open annular belt portion forming molds 3 are set with predetermined spacings on an FRP core body 1, liquid silicone rubber (a) is injected into the respective metal molds 3, and the injected rubbers are simultaneously cross-linked in a heating furnace. Thereafter, the rubbers are extracted from the molds so as to form a group of annular belt portions 21. A predetermined adhesive layer is provide on the FRP core body, the bottom end portion inner faces of upper portion open single rib portion forming molds 4 are pressure-touched to the intermediate portions of formed annular belt portions 21, the liquid silicone rubber (a) is injected into the respective metal molds 4 so as to be immersed into the bottom end portions 211 of the respective formed annular belt portions 21. Thereafter, the injected rubbers are simultaneously cross-linked in the heating furnace so as to form a group of singly- ribbed covering portions. Thereby, it is possible to manufacture a composite insulator in a short time.
