PURPOSE: To make the thickness of door smaller without lowering operability of an outer handle device by a method in which the end of a connected part extended in the opposite direction to operating part is positioned on the outside of vehicle from the turning center of the handle.
CONSTITUTION: Provided are an operating part 5a extending from the turning center O1 of an outer handle 5 to the inside of the outer handle casing 4 and a connected part 5b extending in a different direction from the part 5a on the outside of the casing 4. The end of the part 5b is connected through a lock part 6 to a door locker and also positioned on the outside of vehicle from the turning center O1 of the handle 5. The widthwise size of the vehicle in the whole of the device can be thus be shortened to make it applicable to even doors of small thickness.
