Abstract:
To provide a smelting method that produces metal by reducing a mixture containing oxide ore such as nickel oxide ore, where the method makes it possible to efficiently recover metal, the produced metal having high quality with less variation in quality.SOLUTION: The present invention provides an oxide ore smelting method in which, a mixture obtained by mixing oxide ore and a carbonaceous reductant is charged into a reduction furnace 1, and the mixture is subjected to a reduction treatment in the reduction furnace. As the reduction furnace 1, a tilting furnace having a tilting mechanism 15 is used, and a reduction product R from the reduction treatment is discharged by tilting the tilting furnace.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
