NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R is H, or methoxy; R1 is H, or substituent group; R2 is H, light metal atom, or carboxy-protecting group; X is O, S, SO, or SO2; Y is alkylene containing hetero atom in chain; Z is H, or substituent group).

EXAMPLE: 7β-( 5-Ethoxy-3-oxothiomorpholin-2-yl )charboxamido-7α-methoxy-3-(1- methyl-5-tetrazolyl)thiomethyl-1-dithia-1-oxa-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid diphenylmethyl ester.

USE: An antibacterial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

PREPARATION: For example, a 7β-amino-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with a carboxylic acid compound shown by the formula III or its reactive derivative to give a compound shown by the formula I .
