To provide a paper carrying device for carrying while stabilizing a paper feed in the orthogonal direction to the carrying direction while reversing carried paper.
Carrier roller pairs for carrying paper are arranged in a paper carrying passage for carrying the paper in the orthogonal direction with respect to the paper carrying direction while reversely carrying the paper carried from an image forming device. When it is detected of the paper is sandwiched by the carrier roller pairs existing downstream in the carrying direction among the carrier roller pairs existing in a position of changing the carrying direction of the paper, the paper can be stably fed since control is performed to release the press-fit of the carrier roller pairs existing upstream.
