PURPOSE: To stably convey a paper sheet without causing creases in the sheet and miniaturize the conveyor by providing a drive control means for controlling to start paper conveyance by an intermediate roller after making the tip of the paper, carried out from a paper feeding unit, abut on the intermediate roller in a standstill state and making correction of the paper skew.
CONSTITUTION: An intermediate sensor 31 detects the tip of a paper sheet fed by a paper feeding roller 20. An intermediate roller 21 is stopped by this detection and the paper is deflected between the intermediate roller 21 and the paper feeding roller 20. Force to restore the deflection the by stiffness of the paper acts on the paper sheet and corrects the skew. The intermediate roller 21 restarts its driving after elapse of a specified time. Meanwhile, the paper feeding roller 20 stops its driving after elapse of a specified time and the intermediate roller 21 also stops its driving at a paper sheet tip detection timing of a register sensor 35, while the intermediate roller 21 restarts its driving as the register roller 22 restarts its driving. Thus, a stable paper conveyance performance can be obtained.
