PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems that, when stacking paper sheets, the accumulation state of the paper sheets accumulated in an accumulation box may be disturbed, or JAM may occur at the time of accumulation.SOLUTION: The paper sheet accumulating device according to the present invention is a paper sheet accumulating device including detecting means for detecting the thickness of paper sheets stacked in an accumulation box and stacking means for stacking the paper sheets in the accumulation box. The stacking means has a chute for inserting the paper sheet toward a first height of a wall surface of the accumulation box, and the stacking means calculates an accumulation amount of the paper sheets in the accumulation box on the basis of the thickness of the paper sheets detected by the detecting means, and controls the chute so as to insert the paper sheet toward a second height of a wall surface of the accumulation box when the calculated accumulation amount reaches a first threshold value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
