Title:
PARTICLE AND PARTICLE-CONTAINING DISPERSION AND THEIR PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3907230
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a water-dispersible film-coated composition having a combination of durability with blocking resistance normally hard to be compatible with each other through such processes that an organic polymer not covalent bonded and silica are disposed in the core of particles with core-shell structure and the organic polymer in the shell and three-dimensional network structure or IPN structure among the organic polymer to physicochemically holding the silica in the core.
CONSTITUTION: The above composition is obtained by the couple of processes, namely, core particle-forming process (process 1) and shell-forming process (process 2). When the characteristics of monomers to be used are classified in terms of the presence (O) and absence (x) of each of epoxy group, unsaturated double bond, group reactive with epoxy group and alkoxysilane group, the core monomer c1, core monomer c2, shell monomer s1, and shell monomer s2 are represented by ooxx, xoxx, xo ox, and xoxx, respectively. In the process 1, c1, c2 and colloidal silica are subjected to emul- sion or suspension copolymerization in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator and water at 10-100°C. And the resultant dispersed core particles, s1 and s2 are then similarly copolymerized.
