Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the reliability for decision of order in bit comparison, by providing a lane side device as a question device and a car side device as a response device and by making use of pulse phase modulation type both- side optical communication.
CONSTITUTION: A lane side device 10 as a question device is installed at the upper part of a gate in a racing field. The lane side device 10 is provided with an optical transmitter 32 repeating question pulse emission QL composed of serial two pulses issued at a specified interval and at every specified cycle, and an optical receiver 34 measuring the time difference between the emission time of question pulses and the receive time of response pulse emission from the car side device 20. From the time difference, the passage car is distinguished by the passage car discriminator 50. On the other hand, the car side device 20 as the response device is provided with an optical receiver 60 detecting the presence of the question pulse emission QL and a response emitter 70 generating response purses AL composed of serial two pulses issued at a specified interval after the time difference between respective cars preset in a response time difference setter 80 from the received time of the question pulse emission.
