Title:
PASSIVE TYPE MASS DAMPER FOR LARGE EARTHQUAKE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11230249
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To exhibit the frictionlike historical characteristic in a repeating and stable manner by providing a damper to generate the damping force by the frictionlike historical characteristic when the load is not less than the prescribed value in a passive mass damper comprising a weight, a restoring element, and the damper.

A weight 3 is supported by a laminated rubber 2 as a restoring force element on a damper installation floor 1 of a building to be controlled in vibration, one end of the damper 4 is connected to the weight 3, and the other end of the damper 4 is connected to a reaction receiver 5 fixed to the damper installation floor 1. The damper 4 generates the damping force when the load on the weight 3 reaches not less than the prescribed value to exhibit the friction-like historical characteristic. A piston provided with an oil passage having a relief valve to permit the movement of the working oil in the advancement and retreat, is fitted into a cylinder filled with the working oil 6. The applicable range can be expanded not only for large earthquakes but also small ones.
