PURPOSE: To provide a new phenyl-substd. 1,4-dihydropyridine useful as an active compd. in a medicine, especially, in a cerebral active compsn.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. represented by formula I [wherein R1 and R3 are each a 1-6C alkoxy, 1-8C straight chain or branched chain alkyl which may be substd. with OH or a 3-7C cycloalyl; and R2 is a group represented by formula II (wherein R4 and R5 are each a halogen, CN, ethynyl, OCF3, methyl, methylthio, CF3, 1-4C straight chain or branched chain alkoxy or either one of them is H)] and its salt, for example, isopropyl-2-methoxyethyl (±)4-(2- fluorophenyl)-1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethylpyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate are designate. This compd. is obtained by reacting an aldehyde represented by the formula; R2-CHO and an acetoacetic ester represented by formula III to obtain an ylidene compd. represented by formula IV and reacting this compd. with a compd. represented by formula V in an inert solvent in the presence of ammonium (salt).
