Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst membrane having improved catalytic efficiency and a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst membrane contains TiO2 as a main component and has a multilayer structure in which the distribution of the porosity is such that the porosity is <=80% at the surface of the membrane and >=10% at the inside of the membrane, and the distribution of the average pore diameter is such that the average pore diameter is <=5 μm at the surface of the membrane and >=2 nm at the inside of the membrane and which is composed of not more than 10 layers, each having a membrane thickness of >=0.2 μm. In the photocatalyst membrane, the porosity and the average pore diameter are decreased toward the inside from the surface of the membrane, the thickness of the membrane is <=5 μm, the content of the metal particles is 0.01 to 30%, an average diameter of the metal particles is <=0.1 μm and the content of zeolite is 0.1 to 50%. Further, the method of producing the photocatalyst membrane comprises adding a binder to primary particles of TiO2 having an average particle size of <=100 nm, being a raw material, to obtain a slurry, then coating the slurry onto a substrate by a slip casting method and sintering the coated film.
