Abstract:

To provide a photochromic coating agent for imparting a substrate with photochromism, good in adhesion of the cured coating film thereof to the substrate, giving intermediate color tone when color-developed, and quick in color development/color fading with slight color tone change( particularly in color fading ).

The coating agent is obtained by admixing a polymerizable composition comprising a silane-based monomer such as γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and an amine compound such as triethanolamine with three pyran-based photochromic compounds differing in maximum absorption wavelength in color development from each other and having a specific relation for their color fading half-lives determined in a matrix resin as the cured product of the polymerizable composition.
