Title:
PHOTOCONDUCTIVE TONER AND ITS PREPARATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60175056
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a toner having superior fluidity, stabilized charge characteristics, and improved photosensitivity by providing a coated layer contg. a photoconductive substance and microfine polymer on the surface of transparent and spherical polymer nucleus particles.

CONSTITUTION: Transparent and spherical polymer nucleus particles having uniform particle size of 1W20μ are prepd. from styrenic monomer alone or a mixture thereof with acrylic ester, etc. by the dispersion polymn. in an org. solvent or by the seed emulsion polymn. process. On one hand, an aq. dispersion of microfine polymer is prepd. by the emulsion polymn. of vinyl monomer(s) such as acrylic ester, methacrylic ester, alone or as a mixture. Aq. dispersion of a photoconductive substance such as copper phthalocyanine and aq. soln. of NaOH are added thereto to prepare a stable and uniform dispersion while maintaining pH at ≥8. The above described slurry of the nucleus particle is added to the dispersion, and the mixture is dried by spraying at above the glass transition temp. of the particle. By this method, a toner having a coated layer 2 contg. a mixture of the photoconductive substance and the microfine polymer is obtd., and thus, a toner consisting of spherical particles, and having superior fluidity and stable charge characteristic is obtd.
