Title:
PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT HAVING INITIALLY WATER-RESISTANT PROTECTIVE OVERCOAT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2002148758
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a photographic element having a protective overcoat excellent in protective characteristics.

The photographic element having an initially water-resistant protective overcoat includes (a) a base, (b) at least one silver halide emulsion layer lapped over one face of the base and (c) the overcoat lapped over the silver halide emulsion layer, comprising a coating composition containing (i) water-dispersible latex particles containing an epoxy material having at least 1.5 epoxy group per one molecule on the average and a polymer having an acid value of 30-250 in which acid groups have been neutralized with a base to 50-95% degree of neutralization and having 0.01-0.5 μm average particle size and >20°C Tg (glass transition temperature) and (ii) a water-soluble hydrophilic polymer, having at least 0.54 g/m2 (50 mg/ft2) lay-down and permeable to a processing solution.
