PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photonic crystal optical fiber (PCF) which can maintain reliability for a long period of time even when the PCF is laid underwater and a method of manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION: The PCF 10 formed with a plurality of tubular holes 12 along the axial center within a fiber 11 is provided with partition walls 14 at both ends of the holes 12.
