Title:
PHOTOREDUCTION OF AMPHIPATHIC TETRAPHENYLPORPHYRIN IRON (III) COMPLEX
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3429456
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing a porphyrin complex having a higher valence transition metal as the central metal atom to the corresponding lower valence metal complex to intend, for example, to easily prepare, for example, a lower valence metal porphyrin complex having oxygen coordination activity.
SOLUTION: This photoreduction method comprises fringing a higher valence metal porphyrin complex into contact with a saccharide in an aqueous electrolyte solution in a nitrogen atmosphere, or irradiating the above complex with light within the ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer (called LMCT) absorption band wavelength region to reduce the complex to the corresponding lower valence metal porphyrin complex.
