To obtain a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material having satisfactory raw stock preservability, giving a high density recorded image and excellent in heat color developing property by incorporating a specified compd.
This photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material with a layer contg. a diazo compd. and a coupler as essential components on the substrate contains a compd. represented by the formula (where R is H, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen). The benzylbiphenyl compd. represented by the formula has a m.p. equal to or lower than that of a eutectic forming agent, the compd. in a molten state generally has a property of melting the coupler, a base and the eutectic forming agent, and the compd. is dispersed and used in a soln. for a developer layer or a soln. for a middle layer. The average particle diameter of the benzylbiphenyl compd. is 0.4-7μm, preferably 1-5μm. The amt. of the compd. used is not especially limited but the compd. is used by 0.5-10 pts.wt., preferably 1-5 pts.wt. per 10 pts.wt. of the coupler.
