To control absorption of water and a hydrocarbon on the surface of a blue phosphor and to improve deterioration of phosphor luminance and a chromaticity change or a discharge characteristic, by eliminating an oxygen defect near to Ca, Sr, Ba and Eu ions of the blue phosphor in a plasma display apparatus.
In the plasma display apparatus, the plasma display apparatus having a high luminance with less deterioration of luminance in a panel manufacturing process is obtained by constituting a phosphor layer using a compound represented by Me1-xMgSi2O6: Eux (wherein Me is at least one of Ca, Sr and Ba) wherein concentration of a bivalent Eu ion is 40%-95% and concentration of a trivalent Eu ion is 5%-60%, of Eu atoms constituting the blue phosphor.
