To obtain a plasma display panel which can minimize non-uniformity of luminance in the display surface, while reducing the cost and power consumption, because change in the current or aperture ratio is small even if there is misalignment.
The plasma display panel sections a discharge cell by disposing a display electrode pair in which a discharge gap is formed, a front plate having a dielectric layer, and a back surface plate having a partition wall so as to face each other, has a first notch in a region of the display electrode where the discharge gap is formed, and has a second notch in a region of the display electrode excepting the discharge gap. In a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the display electrode, the cross sectional area of the display electrode at a position having the first notch is equal to the cross sectional area of the display electrode at a position having the second notch.
