Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a plastic optical article having excellent heat resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance and transparency and suitable as an optical member by disposing a transparent coating film on a transparent crosslinked resin having a glass transition temperature above a constant temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A transparent coating film preferably containing an organic polymer and a finely particulate inorganic oxide as main components is disposed on a transparent crosslinked resin comprising a copolymer and having a glass transition temperature of ≥130°C to provide the objective optical article. The copolymer is produced by polymerizing a composition containing 20-98wt.% of a monomer, preferably an N-methylmaleimide compound of the formula (R3 is H, 1-20C hydrocarbon group; R1, R2 are H, methyl, ethyl, etc.,) and 2-80wt.% of a multi-functional monomer having two or more unsaturated groups, such as ethylene glycol (meth)acrylate in their total amount of ≥30wt.%.
