In this POI information search system with a terminal connected to a server via a network, the terminal includes: means for displaying a map; means for specifying a search object range related to POI information by displaying a scope superposed on the map; means for transmitting to the server the information in the search object range specified by the scope; and means for receiving from the server a search result of database based on the information in the search object range and displaying the POI information contained in the search result superposed on the map. The server includes: means for storing the POI information containing position information in the database; means for searching the database based on the information in the search object range received from the terminal and acquiring the appropriate POI information; and means for transmitting the search result containing the acquired POI information to the terminal.
