Title:
POLISH JIG FOR OPTICAL FIBER FERRULE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3594222
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To polish plural optical fiber ferrules held by collet chuck sleeves in a lump at a proper polishing pressure, and to polish an end face of the optical fiber ferrule in a prescribed slant face direction.
SOLUTION: This polish jig comprises a polish jig plate 2 having fitting-in holes 22 each allowing detachable fitting-in and fixing of a collet chuck sleeve 21 provided with an optical fiber ferrule 20; a hold tube 3 loosely holding the polish jig plate 2 on a polish bed 30; an optical fiber storing vessel 4 having an optical fiber insertion hole 5 in its bottom face allowing detachment from and attachment to an upper part of the hold tube 3; a hold tube support body 6 rotatably supporting the hold tube 3 on the polish bed 30; and a polish jig suspension mechanism 7 having a fulcrum 9 outside the polish jig plate 2, suspending the polish jig plate 2 from one end, and suspending a balancing weight 8 from the other end. The collet chuck sleeve 21 has a fitting part 23A, while the fitting-in hole 22 of the polish jig plate 2 has a fitting part 23B, thereby restricting fitting position of the collet chuck sleeve 21 and the fitting-in hole 22 of the polish jig plate 2.
