PURPOSE: To obtain a new polycyclic compound useful as an antihistamine agent and an antiallergic agent having low side action and excellent selectivity.
CONSTITUTION: A polycyclic compound shown by the formula A-COCH3 [A is group shown by formula I to formula III; X is H or halogen; Y is CH2, O or S; Z is N or C (when Z is N, Z and C of 14b form single bond and when Z is C, Z and C of 14b arbitrarily form double bond); R is lower alkyl; W is CH=CH or CH2O] and its pharmaceutically acceptable salt such as 11-(4- acetyl-1-piperazinyl)-2-chlorodibenz [d.f][1,4] oxazepine. The compound is produced by reaction a compound shown by the formula A-H with an acetylating agent in the absence of a solvent or in a solvent in the presence or absence of a base. The compound is effective as an active ingredient of the medicine and a does of the compound to patients is usually 1-500mg daily by administration.
