To solve the problem that, in the case a raw material is heated at a high temperature for a long time to couple saccharide with polymer chains, a large quantity of monomers produced by depolymerization reaction remain in a polymer compound as a product, and the residual monomers function as a hydrolysis catalyst to deteriorate the physical properties of the polymer compound.
The content of residual monomers in a polymer compound having polymer chains coupled with saccharide is 1,000 ppm or lower and is small compared with the conventional one obtained by a method in which a raw material is heated at a high temperature for a long time. In this way, the effect that deterioration in physical properties based on the residual monomers can be suppressed is given.
