To provide a polymer granulator excellent in the stability of a strand state detector and capable of obtaining pellets free from air bubbles and having no abnormality in shape while reducing the load of a worker.
In the polymer granulator for extruding a molten polymer 4 from a nozle 6 as strands 7 and cooling and solidifying the strands to cut the same into pellets 9 by a cutter 8, a light source 11 and a photodetector 12 are provided to project light on the strands 7 from the light source 11 and the electric signal obtained by the photodetector 12 is subjected to number-of- pixel processing to detect the strands 7 as one strand on the basis of two or more continuous numerical values and, further, the thickneses of the strands 7 are detected on the basis of the number of pixels and the number of strands having a normal thickness is compared with a predetermined standard to judge the completion of delivery.
