Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable liquid crystal compound including a liquid crystal phase having a broad temperature range, exhibiting excellent compatibilities with other compounds, and endowed with necessary characteristics such as optical anisotropy, etc.SOLUTION: The provided polymerizable liquid crystal compound is expressed by the formula (1) or formula (2): R-Z-(A-Z)m-R(1); R-Z-(A-Z)m-R(2) [Rexpresses a polymerizable group such as an acryloyloxy group, etc; Rexpresses H or a C1-12 alkyl group wherein an arbitrary member of -CH- within the alkyl group is optionally substituted with -O-, -CO-, -COO-, or -OCO-; A is a 1,4-phenylene group optionally possessing a substituent, etc.; Z expresses a single bond, -(CH)-, -O(CH)-, -(CH)O-, -O(CH)O-, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -COO-, etc.; n is an integer of 1 to 10; m is an integer of 1 to 6].
