Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a porous hollow fiber membrane capable of efficiently recovering germanium oxide by allowing the residue of an epoxy-containing compound subjected to radiation graft polymerization on the surface of a porous hollow fiber membrane made of polyethylene to react with a compound giving a residue containing a specified structure by reaction with the above residue.
SOLUTION: The residue of an epoxy-containing compound subjected to radiation graft polymerization on the surface of a porous hollow fiber membrane made of polyethylene is allowed to react with a compound giving a residue containing a structure of formula I (where R1 and R2 are each H or a lower alkyl) by reaction with the above residue to obtain the objective 1st porous hollow fiber membrane having chelate forming ability. In other way, the residue of the epoxy-containing compound is allowed to react with a compound giving a residue containing a structure of formula II (cis-1,2-diol structure) by reaction with the above residue to obtain the objective 2nd porous hollow fiber membrane having chelate forming ability.
