To obtain a porous sheet for forming polymeric gel electrolytes intended for various electrical devices exhibiting high ionic conductivity by impregnating a non-aqueous electrolyte into a porous sheet-like material comprising a fibrous material of acrylonitrile-based polymer and a 2nd fibrous material of olefin-based polymer followed by gelatinization.
This porous sheet-like material for polymeric gel formation is obtained by impregnating a non-aqueous electrolyte comprising a cyclic or chain carbonate in a porous sheet-like product followed by gelatinization; wherein the porous sheet-like product is prepared by wet papermaking of a paper stock as pulp-like material and/or staple fibers each 1-20 μm in diameter and 2-5 mm in length comprising 10-100 wt.%, pref. 10-70 wt.%, of a fibrous material of acrylonitrile-based polymer containing ≥50 mol% of acrylonitrile unit and ≤10 mol% of acrylic ester or vinyl acetate unit and ≤90 mol%, pref. 90-30 mol%, of a 2nd fibrous material of olefin-based polymer consisting of polyethylene and/or polypropylene, with numerous fibrils branched from the fiber backbones in these fibrous materials.
