Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the character recognition device which can shorten a processing time by decreasing the kinds of features used for recognition as to items to be postprocessed.
CONSTITUTION: An image input part 1 inputs an image to be recognized, an item image extraction part 2 extracts images of respective entry items from the image to be recognized, and a character segmentation part 3 segments character images from the item images. A postprocessed item selection part 4 selects items to be postprocessed among the respective entry items of the image to be recognized and a feature number setting part 5 decreases the kinds of features used for recognition as to the items to be postprocessed. A character recognition part 6 collates the character images, segmented by the entry items, with a recognition dictionary 61 according to the set kinds of the features to extract recognition candidate characters. A postprocessing part 7 collates the recognition candidate characters of the set items to be postprocessed with a word dictionary 71 and corrects them and the recognition result is displayed at a display part 8.
