To prevent a lid from opening due to impact at the time of falling.
The portable printer comprises a printer body equipped with an opening for containing a film pack, and a lid covering the opening for containing a film pack. The lid is fixed to the printer body to turn freely between close position and open position. A click latches the lid at the close position and unlatches the lid by receiving a predetermined operation. When the portable printer falls, an acceleration detection circuit detects the magnitude of acceleration. An operation circuit performs operation based on an acceleration signal from the acceleration detection circuit, and delivers a fall detection signal to a CPU if the operation result is larger than a threshold. When fall is detected, a motor is driven in response to a drive command from the CPU and a cam and a lever operates to lock the click and the lid in meshed state thus restricting the lid at the close position.
