Abstract:
To provide a positive active material capable of enhancing chemical stability and its manufacturing method; and to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high capacity and excellent charge discharge characteristics using the positive active material.
A positive electrode 2 has the positive active material. The positive active material has a covering layer formed in at least a part of a composite oxide particle, comprising an oxide containing lithium (Li) and at least one covering element out of nickel (Ni) and manganese (Mn), and a surface layer formed in at least a part of the covering layer and comprising an oxide containing yttrium (Y).
