Abstract:
To provide a positive electrode active material increased in discharge capacity per unit volume.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a lithium transition metal composite oxide. The lithium transition metal composite oxide has an α-NaFeO2 structure, and contains as a transition metal (Me), Ni, Co and Mn. The mole ratio Ni/Me of Ni to the transition metal (Me) satisfies 0.35≤Ni/Me. The mole ratio Li/Me of Li to the transition metal (Me) satisfies 1.05≤Li/Me. With the positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, when the frequency of a maximum peak in a particle size distribution map arranged by taking a particle size (μm) for a horizontal axis, and a frequency (%) for a vertical axis is Fre1(%), a particle size corresponding to the maximum peak is D1(μm), a particle size representing a fifth part of D1 is D2(μm), and a frequency at D2 is Fre2(%), the ratio Fre2/Fre1 of Fre2 to Fre1 satisfies 0.12≤Fre2/Fre1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
