PURPOSE: To precisely analyze an Ni content by dissolving only the Ni of an Ni alloy contg. Ti by a hydrofluoric acid then separating the Ni ions and electrolyzing the same to deposit the Ni ions on an electrode plate.
CONSTITUTION: The Ni alloy contg. Ti, Zr, Hf, Mo, Nb, Ta, etc. is treated with the hydrofluoric acid. Since the Ti, etc. form complex ions (TiF62+) with the hydrofluoric acid in this state, only the Ni dissolves. The soln. is passed through an ion exchange resin so that the Ni ions are adsorbed thereon. Aq. ammonia is added to the Ni ions after the elution thereof. The Ni ions are electrolyzed by using an insoluble electrode such as platinum and are deposited on the electrode. The weight of the Ni is measured. Since the Ni alloy is treated with the hydrofluoric acid to dissolve only the Ni, the analysis of the Ni with high accuracy is made possible. This method is useful in securely predicting the characteristic of an Ni-Ti shape memory alloy, etc.
