PURPOSE: To stabilize and facilitate the landing of airplane on an airplane carrier by providing an air plane having a plurality of control surfaces to be operated, an automatic system for maintaining the air plane at the predetermined attack angle during the landing of the air plane, a control system for maintaining the inert flying path angle of the air plane constant during the landing, and a control unit to be operated by a pilot.
CONSTITUTION: An air plane has a canard wing control surface 2a, a wing flap control surface 26, a strake flap 2c, and these control surfaces 2a-2c are variable positioned by an actuator 3. Various input including an input of pilot command and input data from an acceleration meter and a gyroscope 5 is supplied to the flying control digital computer 4. Thrust is automatically modulated by a throttle so as to maintain the attack angle α of the air plane constant, namely, maintain the air speed. A pilot directly controls the flying path angle and speed of the airplane with a pitch command central operating rod control unit. Phugoid damping is obtained by eliminating a snaking tendency of a flying path through the thrust modulation.
