PURPOSE: To accelerate the growth of a new bone by uniformly and rapidly precipitating amorphous calcium phosphate type compound having good biocompatibility on the contact surface with the bone of a living body by applying superplastic processing to ceramics containing CaO and SiO2 as essential components and capable of forming the calcium phosphate compound.
CONSTITUTION: 0.05-800 pts.wt. of a silica supply component expressed in terms of SiO2, 0.05-600 pts.wt. of a calcium oxide supply component as CaO and at least one component selected from 0.05-600 pts.wt. of an alumina supply component expressed in terms of Al2O3 and 0.05-600 pts.wt. of a magnesia supply component expressed in terms of MgO are pref. used per 100 pts.wt. of a matrix material. The use ratio of these components is set so that silica is 0.5-20mol, alumina is 0.1-20mol and magnesia is 0.1-20mol when calcium oxide is 1mol.
