Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press forming device for optical elements constituted to minimize the influence to be exerted on temperature control in a vacuum atmosphere to the least necessary extent by shortening a forming cycle when executing a forming method for evacuating the forming atmosphere only during pressing, and also provide the method for forming the same.
SOLUTION: The glass blank heated and softened by using a pair of upper and lower forming dies is deformed by pressing and is cooled, following which a glass formed article is taken out. A second hermetic chamber allowing atmosphere replacement exists in part within a first hermetic chamber allowing atmosphere replacement independently from the first hermetic chamber. Both of the first and second hermetic chambers consist of an openable/closable structure and the second hermetic chamber consists at least of a structure to enclose the forming dies during the pressing. The outer side of the second hermetic chamber and the inner side of the first hermetic chamber are provided with glass transferring means for supplying/taking out the glass into/from the inside of the forming dies.
