Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer of a high whiteness while preventing the deposition of polymer scale on the inside wall of a polymerizer by forming a coating film containing a PVA and a water-soluble carboxylated polymer compound on the inside wall before polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the polymerizer. CONSTITUTION:The purpose polymer is obtained by polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer (e.g. vinyl chloride) in a polymerizer having an inside wall covered with a coating film containing a PVA, [desirably one having a viscosity (in the 4wt.% aqueous solution at 20 deg.C) of 3-100cP and a degree of saponification of 50-100mol%] and a water-soluble carboxylated polymer compound (the carboxyl groups may be in the form of a salt), [desirably poly(meth)acrylate or acylic acid/methacrylic acid copolymer].
