Abstract:

To provide a printer which can simply carry out alignment of each color at a printing position and can beautifully print visible information, and to provide a recording medium drive unit.

The printer is equipped with a spindle motor 22 which rotates an optical disc 1 attached removably, and a printing head 31 which is opposed to a label face of the optical disc 1 attached to the spindle motor 22 and can print the visible information such as characters and patterns by ejecting ink droplets to the label face. The printing head 31 has four sets of ejection nozzles by color 45-48 which eject ink of four colors. The four sets of ejection nozzles by color 45-48 are arranged in one array. A head moving mechanism is equipped which moves the printing head 31 in a predetermined direction based on a rotation center position of the optical disc.
