Abstract:
To provide a printer which can highly accurately detect a residual amount of a sheet-like medium by optically correctly detecting a distance to a detection object.SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises: a storage part 103 which can store a roll body R; a TOF sensor 104 which detects a distance to the roll body R; a conveyance part 105 which conveys a roll sheet P1 of the roll body R; a printing part 106 which performs printing on the roll sheet P1 conveyed by the conveyance part 105; and a control part 117. The control part 117 executes: a step S10 of detecting a residual amount of the roll sheet P1 in the roll body R on the basis of the detection result of the distance to the roll body R by the TOF sensor 104; and a step S15 of correcting a distance detection deviation of the TOF sensor 104 on the basis of the detection result of the distance to a movable plate 111 by the TOF sensor 104 in such a state that an opening/closing cover 102 is opened and a distance from the TOF sensor 104 to the predetermined movable plate 111 becomes a known value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
