Abstract:
To provide a printing device that can avoid detection of a near end state of a roll paper from being inhibited due to blocking of a space between the roll paper and a detection part.SOLUTION: A printing device comprises: a roll paper housing part 15 that has a first placement surface 27 on which an outer peripheral surface Ra of a roll paper R wound with a recording paper P is placed and houses the roll paper R; a thermal head 67 that performs printing on the recording paper P pulled out from the roll paper R housed in the roll paper housing part 15; a first retraction part 77, provided retractably on the first placement surface 27, which is pressed by the roll paper R having the outer peripheral surface Ra placed on the first placement surface 27 to be embedded into the first placement surface 27, when a diameter of the roll paper R is larger than a predetermined diameter, and which is released from the pressing by the roll paper R to protrude from the first placement surface 27, when the diameter of the roll paper R is smaller than the predetermined diameter; and a detection part that detects retraction of the first retraction part 77.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
