PURPOSE: To perform high speed printing, by a method wherein the number of dots stored in each divided block are confirmed to find out the divided block nearest to the prescribed number of dots and each optimum value block is printed collectively in a singular or plural number.
CONSTITUTION: When the transmission of data 9 to a thermal head from an I/O port 1 is started under the control of a CPU 2, the first divided block is indicated at first and the number of printing dots of the first divided block are counted by a dot counter 3 and, after the finish of transmission, said number of printing dots are stored in a memory 6 by a confirmation circuit 4. Next, the finish of all of divided blocks is checked by the confirmation circuit 4 and, when said divided blocks are not finished, the next divided block is indicated to transmit the data 9 to the thermal head from the I/O port 1 in the same way until the finish of all of the divided blocks. After finish, the number of the printing dots of each divided block are read from the memory 6 by a prescribed value optimum selection circuit 5 and each divided block becoming the approximate value of the number of prescribed value dots is selected and collected into plural or singular number output to be delivered to a strobe number assigned circuit 7.
