Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily select guided polarized light.
SOLUTION: One end of an optical fiber 12 is sharpened by chemical etching or the like to thereby form a sharpened part 3. A ferromagnetic metal film 13 is formed around the sharpened part 3. The ferromagnetic metal has a magneto-optical effect. Consequently, specific polarized light can easily enter from an opening part 14 by applying a magnetic field in the specific direction to the ferromagnetic metal film 13.
