PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing apparatus capable of surely absorbing vibration due to vertical motion of a main shaft.SOLUTION: A processing apparatus includes: a processing tool for processing a workpiece; a main shaft for supporting the processing tool; a support body for supporting the main shaft; a main shaft driving mechanism for causing the main shaft to move back and forth in an axial direction in the support body; a counterweight disposed away from the main shaft on an axis of the main shaft; and a counterweight driving mechanism for causing the counterweight to move back and forth in opposite phase against the main shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
