To provide a processing method of a magnetic recording medium to prevent clogging in a magnetic head without influencing magnetic characteristics or travelling property, and to provide such a magnetic recording medium that also has a photographic layer comprising a color photosensitive material having a multilayered structure and that prevents clogging in a magnetic head.

A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic recording layer on one surface of a transparent supporting body and having at least one photographic layer on the other surface is subjected to exposure for an image and to magnetic recording, and then the medium is developed. In this process, the medium is processed with a processing liquid containing a compd. expressed by formula I or II. I: H(-O-R1-)n1-O-R2, wherein R1 is 2 or 3C alkylene group, R2 is 8 to 25C alkyl or aryl group and n1 is an integer 12 to 30. II: H(-O-R3-)n2-O-R4, wherein R3 is 2C or 3C alkylene group, R4 is 16C to 25C alkyl group or aryl group and n2 is an integer 7 to 11.
