Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a 1-alkoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpropyl derivative, having little impurity and good in quality with an easy efficient method having high productivity by subjecting a 1-alkoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-3-phenylpropyl derivative to catalytic reduction.
SOLUTION: This 1-alkoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpropyl derivative of the formula (R is an alkyl group; X is Ala, Gly, Leu, Ile of Val, or Orn, Lys or Hly whose ω-amino group is protected with an acyl-type protecting group; Y is hydroxyl group, Ala, Gly, Leu, Ile, Val, Pro, etc.) is produced by subjecting a corresponding 1-alkoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-3-phenylpropyl derivative to catalytic reduction in the presence of a strong acid in an amount of ≥3 equivalent based on 1 equivalent (1 mole) of the 1-alkoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-3-phenylpropyl derivative in a 0.4-5 N strong-acid alcohol or a solvent containing the alcohol.
