Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an alkenylsilane copolymer in a high yield by copolymerizing an alkenylsilane with a cycloolefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a specific metal compd. and an organometallic compd.
CONSTITUTION: An alkenylsilane copolymer is obtd. in a high yield by copolymerizing an alkenylsilane with a cycloolefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a compd. of a group VIII metal (e.g. a biscyclopentadienylmetal) and an organometallic compd. (e.g. aluminoxane). An alkenylsilane is hardly polymerizable in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst, and so is a cycloolefin.
