Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing highly pure a β-ketoaldehyde alkali salt in a high yield.
SOLUTION: This method comprises reacting a formate ester with a ketone to give a β-ketoaldehyde alkali salt shown by the formula [R1 is a (substituted) 1-8C alkyl or aryl, or H; R2 is a (substituted) 1-8C alkyl, aryl, or H; M is Na, K, or Li] by dropwise adding (A) a formate ester to an organic solvent containing (B) at least one alkali metal compound(s) selected from an alkali metal, an alkali metal hydride, an alkali metal methyl alkoxide, and an alkali metal ethyl alkoxide at an A/B molar ratio of 1.5-3.0 at a temp. of -10 to 50°C, followed by dropwise adding (C) a ketone to the alkali metal compound at a C/B molar ratio of 0.8-1.5 at a temp. of -20 to 15°C.
