Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a catalyst component-containing titania fiber usable for reduction of a nitrogen oxide, oxidation of an organic substance, decomposition of an organic chlorine-based compound such as dioxin, or decomposition and removing, etc., of an organic solvent, agricultural chemicals and a surfactant, etc., and having a large specific surface area or pore volume and exhibiting high activity.

This method for producing a catalyst component-containing titania fiber is composed of (1) adding water to a solution in which titanium oxide is dissolved in a solvent and subjecting the solution to hydrolyzing reaction and polymerization reaction to generate a polymer in the solution, (2) obtaining a spinning solution by dissolving the polymer in an organic solvent in which the polymer is soluble, (3) obtaining a precursor fiber by spinning the spinning solution and (4) baking the precursor fiber. The spinning solution is obtained by adding the catalyst component to the process (1) or (2). The precursor fiber obtained by spinning the spinning solution is treated in steam before baking and/or during baking.
