Abstract:
To provide a method for producing chloroethylene carbonate from ethylene carbonate in good yield.
A compound selected from thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride, phosgene, N-chlorosuccinimide, iodobenzene dichloride, 2-chloroacetamide and a metal chloride is used as a chlorinating agent in a method for reacting ethylene carbonate with the chlorinating agent in the presence of an initiator and producing chloroethylene carbonate.
